According to his letter dated March 18, 1938, Robert Schaap sent "three detailed lists and a few photographs in a shipping case" addressed to Coulter.

Schaap informs Coulter that he has sent detailed lists and photographs to Coulter via the Dutch mail ship M.S. BRASTAGI. He also informs Coulter that he has obtained a permit to export prehistoric artifacts from Java.

Schaap tells Coulter that he has not done any collecting, as his business has been struggling due to a devaluation of currency. He continues by saying that he has packed some of his best artifacts, but a smuggling operation has tightened regulations…
